DSE Class of 2021. During Form 5 and Form 6, repeated school closures due to COVID-19 left me significantly behind. With no classroom support, I had no choice but to teach myself — and managed to bring my Chemistry grade from a 3 up to a 5, and Economics from a 4 up to a 5*. That experience shaped how I think about learning: genuine understanding always matters more than rote memorisation. During the same period, I began tutoring a friend informally. Within three months, their Chemistry grade improved from a 2 to a 4. Teaching someone else pushed me to go beyond simply reciting textbook content — I learned to guide students toward building real conceptual frameworks, and that has remained the core of my teaching approach ever since.
